Johannes Singhammer: A family gives you a home and boosts the abilities of children

Next to digitalisation, globalisation and artificial intelligence it is demography that will determine the future of our countries, along with the way we treat our family members, the number of children we have, and the strength of the presence of families within the state – explained Johannes Singhammer, former Vice President of the Bundestag.
– Some say that families no more matter that much, as we can replace them with comprehensive government packages. However, we know that they cannot make up for emotions. A family gives you a home and boosts the abilities of children. It’s the unity of a man and a woman, two people who plan to have children together.
Over the past decades, the number of deaths surpassed the number of births in Germany; yet, instead of a reduction, the size of the population grew. A recent forecast shows that the size of the country’s population will expand by 1.2 million over the next 2-3 years, due to immigrants.
– The issue with this is that immigrants will be missed in their own countries. If Ukrainians look after elderly German citizens in Germany, who will look after the elderly in the Ukraine? – asked Johannes Singhammer. – The future cannot be about certain countries exporting the demographic problems of other countries. Every country must resolve its own demographic issues – said the former Vice President of the Bundestag.
